The concept for the album is based around the idea of the dream state. The album opens with the admonition of The Matrix. In choosing to proceed after the warning, you are then given another admonition by "IF". This song is to invite those in darkness, into the album to give them the opportunity to essentially Drift, enabling them to question life, however, it does not guarantee anything other than just as The Matrix suggest, the offerings of truth.

Three warnings are what you are given. Each verse restated the importance of it being The Sleepwalker's choice to listen, and in freely chose to continue this, The Sleepwalker accepts all that comes with that invitation. This is important because it is the last time that The Sleepwalker will touch Reality (as is known) before being forced to explore the dream. Although, The Sleepwalker being lost could prove to be more useful than trying to walk up The Sleepwalker ever was to begin with.

FOR THE LISTENER: This is the point of the evening where you are in transition from the end of your day to lay your head on the pillow to begin to go to sleep.
